한국 주교회의 의장 김희중 대주교, 
에콰도르 주교회의 의장 대주교에게 위로 전문

한국천주교주교회의 의장 김희중 대주교는 에콰도르에서 2016년 4월 17일에 발생한 지진 피해와 관련하여, 에콰도르 주교회의 의장 파우스토 트라베스 대주교에게 한국 천주교회를 대표하여 18일자로 위로 전문을 보냈다. 아울러 주교회의는 에콰도르 교회의 피해 복구를 위한 위로 기금을 전달하기로 하였다. 

위로 전문 내용은 다음과 같다.

Your Excellency,

We are deeply saddened to hear about the dreadful earthquake that struck Ecuador on April 17, 2016, taking many lives and their homes.

On behalf of and together with all the bishops and the faithful of Korea, I would like to extend our deepest sympathies to you and the people of Ecuador. We pray for all the victims and their families. May the Lord of Mercy comfort and strengthen them and give them new hope in this hour of untold sufferings.
As a sign of the fraternal love, the Catholic Church in Korea is praying and trying to support people of Ecuador to overcome the aftermath of this deadly earthquake.

I hope you to send our message of condolence to Most Rev. Eugenio Arellano Fernández, M.C.C.I., Vicar Apostolic of Esmeraldas.

존경하는 대주교님,  

2016년 4월 17일에 일어난, 많은 이들의 목숨과 가정을 앗아간 끔찍한 지진 소식에 우리는 깊은 슬픔을 느끼고 있습니다.  

한국의 모든 주교들과 신자들을 대표하여 그들과 함께, 저는 에콰도르 국민들께 깊은 애도를 전하며, 우리는 모든 희생자와 그들의 가족을 위해 기도드립니다. 자비로우신 주님께서 그들을 위로하시고 힘을 주시고, 이러한 말할 수 없는 고통의 시간 속에서 그들에게 새 희망을 주시기를 빕니다.
한국 천주교회는 에콰도르 국민들이 지진의 피해를 잘 극복하기를 기도하며, 형제애를 표현할 지원 방안을 모색하고 있습니다.
(지진이 일어난) 에스메랄다스 대목구의 에우헤니오 아레야노 페르난데스 주교님께 위로의 메시지를 전해 주시기 바랍니다.
