Il Papa ha chiesto ieri che si andassero a cercare i rappresentanti dei "laboradores excluidos" argentini o "cartoneros" e fossero messi sul palco vicino a lui durante la Via Crucis. Li ha salutati con affetto. Sono circa 35. I “cartoneros” abitano le “villas miserias”, le favelas argentine abitate da uomini e donne che fino alla devastante crisi economica del 2001 avevano un lavoro regolare e tutele sociali e che dall’oggi al domani si sono ritrovati a vivere frugando nelle immondizie alla ricerca di cartone, metallo e cibo. In Argentina sono circa 100mila, novemila solo a Buenos Aires. Già alla Santa Messa d’inaugurazione del Pontificato, martedì 19 marzo, era presente Sergio Sánchez, rappresentante dei “Cartoneros”, nella propria divisa blu e verde con la scritta “Movimiento de Trabajadores Exluídos”.

교황은 어제 “일자리 없는 아르헨티나 사람들(laboradores excluidos)”, 즉 “쓰레기 수집자(cartoneros, 영어로는 waste picker)들”을 대표하는 사람들을 찾아달라고 부탁했습니다. 십자가의 길을 하는 동안 당신 곁에 그들을 두기 위함 있었습니다. 그들에게 애정을 담아 인사하셨습니다. 약 35명 정도 되었습니다. 그들은 서민 주택 혹은 빈민가에 거주하는 남녀들인데 2001년의 처참한 경제적 위기가 닥치기 전까지는 정규직을 가지고 있었고 사회 보장까지 받던 사람들입니다. 그러나 지금은 골판지와 금속 그리고 음식을 찾기 위해 쓰레기를 휘저으며 하루하루 연명하는 사람들입니다. 아르헨티나에는 약 10만 명 정도가 있고 부에노스 아이레스에만 8천 명 정도가 있습니다. 지난 3월 19일(화요일), 교황님의 착좌미사에 그들의 대표인 세르지오 산체스(Sergio Sánchez)가 참석했었습니다. “직업이 박탈된 이들의 운동”이라는 문구가 새겨진 작업복, 녹색과 푸른색으로 양분된 작업복을 입고 (세상에서 제일 힘 있는 사람들 보다 앞자리에) 참석하도록 초대되었습니다.
